Three quick sketches of Naruto in some conceptual clothing re-designs. THe trousers are the same for all three, and I have put on fingerless gloves too.
I didn't want to do a complete overhaul, so I've kept in aspects of his current clothing.
A: The first pic was just basically naruto's current clothing, except the jacket is now short sleeved (but could also could still be long-sleeved) and he wears the chuunin jacket.
B: His original jacket is now sleeveless and shows a chuunin shirt underneith.
C: Inspired a bit by Yondaime. Long jacket with orange and Black andhe also wears a chuunin jacket and shirt.
So what do you think? These are just concept designs for my doujin, so may turn out different. But, in the end I may just return to drawing his current wear.

B would be pretty much the same. It would be hard to tell that anything was different most of the time.
C is a bit excessive. The Yondaime inspiration is cool an all but does he know about his dad yet? I don't remember him finding out during the course of your dojin. Kinda wouldn't make much sense, unless it's supposed to be some huge coincidence thing that everyone in the know comments on behind his back.

Black T-shirt, possibly tight to him, with the Naruto spiral symbol thingy. Normal black pants with the same tape thingy on his right side. Maybe he should finally smarten up and stop sticking out so much. A little discretion may help him sneak around a little more.
Btw, where the hell did he get that orange jumpsuit from the original series in the first place anyway???? Is there an orange jumpsuit store in Konoha?!?
