Chapter 3.

A few days passed by, and the sun shone brightly of the ninja village of Konoha, the warmth of the day cooled by a soft breeze that blew over the land. Naruto was at a training field practicing his taijustsu as Hinata watched him from a picnic blanket, and holding a napping Umeko in her arms.
She had only arrived recently with a picnic lunch, while Naruto had been there since dawn. Her cheeks went rosy as she watched a shirtless Naruto train, sweating a lot from his hours of training.
Hinata had a big smile on her face, happy to see her husband back in training after so long.
After a short while, Naruto decided to take a rest and approached Hinata, and sitting beside her.
“Phew. I’m so out of practice with my training.” He grinned, before kissing Hinata on the cheek and wrapping an arm around her.
“Eww... Naruto you’re all sweaty.” Hinata giggled.
“Sorry.” He chuckled, removing his arm. He grabbed his shirt, which Hinata had collected and folded up, and pulled on.
“Here. Hold Umeko while I get lunch.” Hinata said, carefully handing their child over to him, and then beginning to unpack a small basket.
Naruto smiled as he looked down at his baby girl as he rocked her gently in his arms.
Hinata lay out some snacks she had prepared for their lunch, sandwiches, potato chips, a small bowl of salad, two pieces of cake and a bottle of soda.
“Hey Hinata.” Naruto said, turning to her, as she lay out the food onto plates. “Thanks for bringing this out here.”
“It’s ok.” She smiled, “It was nice to see you training again.” She giggled, and blushed as she remembered how she used to sneak around and watch him when they were younger.
“Whats so fuuny?” Naruto asked, cocking his head to one side, still unaware of her stalker past.
“Oh... Umm... n-nothing.” She said, blushing and quickly dishing out the rest of the food.
Naruto chuckled as he continued to gently rock Umeko.

The rest of the day passed happily by, Naruto continued his exercises into the night, still trying to catch up all the time he had missed. Even though his skills had not faded, his endurance had fallen somewhat, and he would have constant breaks, he felt like a new genin again.
Eventually he collapsed to the ground, exhausted, and stared up at the starry sky, breathing heavy.
“Man... what a day... I didn’t think I was THAT out of practice.” He muttered to himself.
He closed his eyes for a second, and took a deep breath of cool night air.
He stared at the stars and smiled, “My mom... a Shinobi.” He muttered to himself. “I wonder how good you were.”
“Naruto?” Came a familiar voice.
Naruto sat up and turned, “Lee?!” Naruto said, surprised to see the green and orange clad Jujitsu master. “Hey pal, nice to see ya.”
“And you my friend.” Lee replied with a smile. “I came to do some late night training. Did you have the same Idea?”
“Actually, I’ve just finished.” Naruto said.
“That is too bad.” Lee sighed, “I thought that perhaps you and I could spar.”
Naruto thought for a moment, “Well... I guess I could spar for a short while.” He said, “But I need to be back in time for supper, or Hinata won’t be very happy.”
“That is excellent.” Lee grinned, happy at Naruto’s decision.
The two moved into position and bowed to each other in respect before taking their opening stance.
The two Shinobi stood facing each other, waiting for an opening to attack.
Naruto was the first to moved. He swiftly ran forward and struck out at Lee who blocked and countered. Naruto blocked Lee and span his body as his leg swept up and over Lee as he ducked to avoid the impact. Lee struck at Naruto, impacting his chest and sending him flying back. Naruto performed a backflip and landed on his feet as Lee gave no chance for him to recover already striking at Naruto again. As it impacted this time, a poof of smoke revealed the substitution Jutsu. Lee quickly jumped back as Naruto appeared from the sky, his fist impacting the ground where Lee was stood. Instantly Naruto leapt up and towards Lee in a swift motion. Lee Blocked Naruto’s barrage of punches. Lee smiled, glad Naruto was still a tough opponent, even though he was exhausted, Naruto was giving him a good work out.
Lee grabbed Naruto’s fists holding them in place as he thrust his knee into Naruto’s stomach and then threw him.
As Naruto slid across the floor Lee followed him Jumping up as Naruto came to a stop. Naruto looked up as Lee began to descend with his fist ready. Naruto flipped up and away as Lee landed where Naruto was and without a beat leapt at where Naruto was going to land. Naruto took Lees punch to his face, but grabbed his arm as he fell onto his back, dragging Lee with him and onto his foot as he raised it and kicked Lee high into the air. Naruto jumped to his feet and then into the air, “KAGE BUNSHIN NO JUTSU!” Naruto cried as a dozen clones appeared around him each one moving in the same direction as he was.
Lee was hit by the barrage of clones and with a swift kick sent flying downwards. “CLONE KAMIKAZE STRIKE!” Naruto shouted as he began kicking his own clones down at Lee, each one hitting lee with a great impact before disappearing.
Naruto smiled as he began to descend himself, “Good fight.” He thought as his vision blurred and he passed out. Impacting the ground a second later.
Lee achingly stood up and approached the unconscious Naruto. He saw the smile on Naruto’s face, and smiled too before picking him up and taking home.
“NARUTO?!” Hinata cried as she opened the door to Lee and the sleeping Naruto. “Lee, what happened?” she asked as he helped him bring her husband in.
“We were sparring, He must have been more tired than I had thought.” Lee answered, a little ashamed for not making sure his friends physical state before sparring with him.
“Oh dear.” Hinata said as they carried Naruto to the bedroom and lay him down. “I’ll get the first aid kit.” She added, noticing a few cuts and bruises. Hinata rushed to the bathroom and quickly returned with the first aid kit. “Thank you for bringing him home.” Hinata said, bowing to Lee, thankful for his help.
“It was no trouble.” Lee grinned. “Oh... I must go. Gai Sensei is making me his famous Curry of Youthfulness tonight.”
“C-curry of youthfulness?!” Hinata said, cocking her head to one side.
“Yes. It is a delicious meal, that warms the body and clears the mind, as well as provides energy.” Lee said, almost drooling.
Hinata nervously chuckled, as she showed Lee to the door.
“Goodnight Hinata.” Lees said as he left.
“Oh... Umm... Have a pleasant evening Lee.” Hinata replied.
Hinata returned to Naruto’s side and applied some cream to his bruises to help them heal quicker, even with his fox power.
While she was applying it, Naruto slowly opened his eyes. “H-Hinata?!” he said, seeing his raven-haired wife.
Hinata smiled at him, “Lay still.” She said, “I know you wanted to get back up to speed Naruto. But I don’t think killing yourself will make it go faster.” She jokingly said.
“Sorry.” Naruto chuckled back.
Naruto placed his hand on Hinata’s as she applied cream to his chest. “Where’s Umeko?” Naruto asked.
“Sleeping.” Hinata said.
Naruto smiled as he pulled gently at Hinata, bringing her head down to his, and bringing her into a kiss. “I love you.” Naruto muttered as he broke the kiss,
Hinata blushed, “I love you too.” She said, no matter how many times she heard it from Naruto, she loved to hear it.
Naruto’s eyes began to droop as his body called out for more rest. “Rest up.” Hinata said, kissing him on the cheek.
“O...K.” Naruto yawned as he did so, falling to sleep.
Hinata couldn’t help but smiled at him.

The next morning, Naruto was awake, and feeling refreshed, all his wounds gone, and his body felt like new. “AHHH. I feel great.” Naruto grinned as he walked into his living room.
Hinata was in the kitchen preparing a breakfast for him and her.
“Morning.” Naruto said as he moved up behind her and hugged her.
Hinata giggled as he kissed her neck. “Naruto, that tickles.” He said, “And I’m trying to get breakfast.”
Naruto just chuckled, and then sniffed the air, taking in the scent of the ramen breakfast she was preparing. “Hmm.... Ramen.” He said drooling.
He sat down at the kitchen table, ready to receive his ramen, and a short while later he was swallowing down the last drop.
“AAAAHHHH. That was great.” He said, pleased with the breakfast, as he sat back and tapped his stomach. “You are the best cook ever.” He said, smiling at Hinata.
Hinata blushed as she stared into her own breakfast, which was a bowl of cereal.
“So... what are you going to do today?” Hinata asked, “More training?”
“Maybe after lunch.” Naruto replied, “This morning I’m going to the archives.”
“Archives?!” Hinata said, confused. “What for?”
“I’m gonna check for information concerning my mother and her last mission.” Naruto replied.
“Your mother?!” Hinata said. “I guess it’s right that you are curious to know about her, but why her last mission?”
“I just want to know what happened to her.” Naruto sighed. “I need to know what was so important that she left me to go on an unauthorised mission.”
Hinata saw the sadness in Naruto’s eyes, she could see it was important to him. “I’ll come and help you.” Hinata said smiling at him. “We can go by the compound and I’ll get Hanabi to babysit for a few hours. I’m sure Father would like to spend some time with his grand-daughter as well.” She said, moving up to Naruto and sitting on his lap as she wrapped her arms around him.
“Thank you.” Naruto said, before pulling her into a deep kiss. He was so thankful she was always there for him.
