Chapter 7
A few days passed and the investigation team returned to Konoha, the rumours about Naruto, and the destruction of the town had spread through the village by this time, and everyone was awaiting the news about what they had concluded.
Morino Ibiki had led the investigation, and reported his findings to both the council and Tsunade. He had concluded that the attack was done by ninja’s numbering at least four, and at least one of them prominent in using fire style jutsus. Something Naruto didn’t know. He also concluded that there was a battle, and that in that battle, the four ninja’s were killed.
His overall conclusion, Naruto had arrived after the attack and killed the rogue ninja’s.
The council was happy with the conclusion, not even concerned with the fact they had not had faith that Naruto was responsible.
Ibiki and Tsunade left the council chambers together and moved to her office.
“Ibiki. Was there anything to explain Naruto’s recent behaviour?” Tsunade enquired.
“I believe so.” Ibiki replied. “We... found the bodies of the four rogues.” Ibiki looked a little disturbed when he said it.
“What?” Tsunade asked, nervously, unsure if she wanted to hear it.
“One... had his face smashed in. His skull was... pulverised. A second had been torn apart by a close impact Rasengan. A third... a woman... had been beaten and impaled on a sword, the last one... well... I’d rather not say.”
“And... Naruto did this?” Tsunade asked.
“I believe so. If what you told me was right, I think he must have snapped, and just went wild.” Ibiki concluded.
“Without the use of the fox?!” Tsunade said, confused. “How is it possible he could lose control of his anger, and not use the power of the fox?”
“That’s something you would have to ask Naruto.” Ibiki answered.

Naruto and Hinata were staring at each as they sat side by side, at the BBQ restaurant. Naruto had insisted on buying Chouji a round of pork as an apology for hitting him.
Their cheeks were bright red, both a little nervous to kiss the other. Ino and Sakura were trying not to giggle, finding it amusing at the awkwardness between them.
“It’s so cute how they both want to kiss, yet are too shy to do it.” Ino commented.
“Yeah.” Sakura smiled.
Shikamaru was sat next to Naruto, and gave a heavy sigh. “Just do it already.” He said, pushing Naruto into Hinata, causing them to kiss.
Naruto and Hinata went bright red as they both were taken by surprise, but slowly they began to enjoy the embrace.
“Awwww.” Ino and Sakura said, as they watched them.
The couple broke their first kiss, their eyes still closed, and speechless. Eventually, they both looked at each other and smiled, with blushing red cheeks, and holding each others hands.
“Aww... young love.” Tsunade said, as she approached them, smiling.
“Obaa-chan?!” Naruto said upon seeing her.
“You certainly look better.” She noticed. “Much happier.”
“I... I am.” Naruto grinned as he looked at Hinata, causing her to shyly look away, with a smile of her own.
“What brings you here Hokage-sama?” Sakura asked.
“Actually... I’ve come to tell you what Ibiki’s investigation found.” Tsunade said.
Naruto instantly became tense, and Hinata could feel it.
“He concluded that Naruto wasn’t involved in the attack.” She said.
“That’s great.” The group of friends said, happy for Naruto. Naruto didn’t look too happy though, he knew Tsunade must have been told about what he had done. They were sure to find out.
“Naruto... I know the rest.” Tsunade said. “And... if you want to talk... privately. You know where my office is.”
Naruto looked up at Tsunade and smiled. “Thanks.” He said.
Tsunade smiled at the young blonde Shinobi and left.
“What did she mean ‘the rest’?” Ino asked, curious.
“It’s nothing.” Naruto replied.
“Then we won’t ask.” Hinata said before Ino could ask again.
Naruto smiled and hugged Hinata. She smiled smiled and began to breathe heavily as her heart raced.
“Hinata?!” Naruto said, as he realised she had fainted with a grin on her face, and he just chuckled.
“How long do you think it’ll be before you lose your temper again? ” the fox said.
“I don’t know.” Naruto replied in his mind.
“And you will risk her life.”
“No.” Naruto replied, “It’s no risk... I don’t know how I know... But I know I won’t hurt her again.”
“Bah! You think your feelings for her will protect her?”
“Not exactly.” Naruto said, “But I figured something out. You were right... I did open the floodgates of hate, and it overwhelmed me. I couldn’t stop the pain. But like most floods, it recedes, and you knew it would... you knew that once I finally got over it... gave myself time to heal, I could close them... no... You knew I wouldn’t have to close them again. That I would stop feeling hateful, stop feeling the pain of years long gone when I WAS unloved, and uncared for. That’s why you poked and prodded with my emotions, why you nearly convinced me to fall even further into the shadows of hate and pain. You are a lonely creature Fox... finding fun in another’s pain just to make yourself feel better. You have my pity.”
“I DON’T NEED YOUR PITY HUMAN!” The fox screamed
“We’re going to be stuck together for a long time fox.” Naruto said as he turned his back on the mental cage the Kyuubi was confined behind. “I have Hinata now, she will be my light in the darkness. I don’t know why... but I think you need one too.”
The Kyuubi just grumbled as he disappeared into the shadows.
Naruto smiled as he held Hinata, her head now resting on his shoulder.
“I’m glad you’re smiling again.” Sakura said.
“Me too.” Naruto chuckled, a little embarrassed. “And I’m glad I have something to really smile about.” He added as he kissed Hinata on the cheek.
